Gentlebrand signs Zelda Smartweight Water: when design meets sustainability

Redefining sustainable elegance: Gentlebrand Design Agency has recently signed Zelda Water, a new revolutionary project in the mineral water sector. The Zelda no label bottle is made from 100% BioPET, a fully renewable bio-based material that combines aesthetic appeal with environmental responsibility, designed to meet the needs of an increasingly eco-conscious market.

The design of the Zelda no label bottle is the result of Gentlebrand’s creativity and vision. Made from 100% BioPET – a recycled and renewable material – it embodies a commitment to sustainability without sacrificing a sophisticated and distinctive shape. The flowing lines and transparent, minimalist appearance echo the elegance of the premium Zelda Horeca version, while maintaining a strong, recognisable visual identity.

Smartweight technology

A distinctive feature of the design is the integration of Smartweight technology, which allows for reduced packaging weight while maintaining strength and functionality. This feature optimises every stage of the product lifecycle – from production to transport and disposal – while significantly reducing environmental impact. By eliminating the label, the recyclability of the product is increased, as it reduces the mix of materials used to produce the packaging.

Available in four formats (20 cl, 33 cl, 55 cl and 150 cl), Zelda Water adapts to different consumption contexts, bringing a touch of accessible luxury to everyday life. The project represents a concrete vision of the future of bottled water, where design, innovation and sustainability coexist in perfect balance.

Recyclability

This packaging is sustainable thanks to its bio-based origin and high recyclability. The primary materials used are easily recyclable under European standards, following RecyClass Guidelines. This means that once the packaging has served its purpose, it can be efficiently processed and repurposed into new materials – helping to reduce waste and lessen the demand for virgin resources.

The intended end-of-life solution for this packaging is full recyclability, enabling a true ‘bottle-to-bottle’ recycling process. After use, the packaging can be collected, processed, and remade into new bottles within the same traditional PET recycling stream.

This closed-loop system reduces waste and lessens the demand for new raw materials by using recycled content to produce new products. By supporting this process, the packaging plays a key role in advancing sustainability and fostering a circular economy—where materials are continually reused, helping to minimise environmental impact and preserve valuable resources.

With Zelda, Gentlebrand proposes a new direction for the entire beverage sector, where design becomes a vehicle for environmental responsibility and aesthetic value.
